SANCCOB’s penguin adoptions are already an incredibly special gift to pass on and now we’re offering double the love for our Valentine’s month promotion. For the month of February, you can adopt and name two African penguins undergoing rehabilitation at the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds for just R600. That’s 2-for-1! Adopting a penguin gives you the opportunity to give the penguin a name and get a certificate of adoption with a photo of ‘your’ bird, details of why and when admitted to SANCCOB, and a special letter of thanks. Adopt today!
There is an estimated 10,300 breeding pairs of African penguins left in the wild in South Africa and SANCCOB’s conservation efforts to save this endangered species from extinction is reliant on public support from all around the world. The species faces many threats, including oiling, predation, extreme weather events exacerbated by the effects of climate change and disease, and food scarcity, all contributing to their decline. These factors result in SANCCOB and its conservation partners intervening when African penguins (and other seabirds) are in distress. When you adopt a penguin in SANCCOB’s care, your donation goes towards buying fish and medication, and for the rehabilitative care provided in order to bolster the wild population when the birds are released. Your loved one will surely be blown away by such a special gift.
Adopt a penguin between the 1st and 28th of February 2022, email your donation proof to Megan@sanccob.co.za with your second penguin number, penguin name chosen and full name of your Valentine, and we will share the love.
Adopt a penguin here and give someone you care about the perfect gift with a purpose. Every African penguin saved and released back to the wild counts!
