African Penguin Awareness Day: 8 October 2016

African Penguin Awareness Day: 8 October 2016

Join us for the annual Penguin Festival in Simon’s Town on 8 October. Enjoy a great day out for the whole family, starting with the release of African penguins that have been rehabilitated by SANCCOB, which takes place at Seaforth Beach at 10 am sharp. Witness this incredibly moving experience as the penguins waddle back into the ocean and swim away to freedom.

Right afterwards, head to the the Simon’s Town Navy Sports Field right next to the beach for:

  • live music
  • kids’ games (mini soccer, puppet show, meet a real penguin, mini rides, inflatable obstacle course, face-painting, jumping castle, climbing wall, Zorb balls, etc.)
  • edutainment/environmental talks
  • exhibitions
  • craft beer/wine tasting
  • food trucks
  • cooking demonstration by a SASSI Braai Ambassador

General admission is free. Entry into the Kids Zone is R100 (kids under 2 free). Park at the Seaforth Beach parking area.

All proceeds go towards saving the endangered African penguin.
